Romanian Center for Missing & Sexually Exploited Children

The operational department represents the structure within “FOCUS - The Romanian Center for Missing and Sexually Exploited Children” which is directly responsible for receiving reports/calls, for intervening in the cases of missing and sexually exploited children and also for preventing these phenomena.

The Center operates the European hotline number for missing children – 116000 – a toll-free hotline, accesible from any fixed or mobile network operators, available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Any person who reports is firstly announced by means of a registered message that the number (s)he has called from will be automatically recorded. This procedure is done in compliance with the legislation concerning the protection of privacy life and personal data. The activity of the operational department is coordinated by an operational coordinator, responsible for the entire activity of the department.

In all its actions, FOCUS acts for:

• runaway children
• abducted children
• children involved in prostitution and child pornography
• children trafficked for sexual exploitation
